In this episode, we’ll talk about disclosure, dating, prayer, pills, and power. We’ll talk about church – yes, the church. And we’ll name the things we were told never to say.

I’ve lived openly with HIV for years. But even in that boldness, I had to ask myself: What else have I been hiding? Because disclosure isn’t the final unmasking. It’s the first one. What comes after is deeper. More layered. And maybe more universal than we think. You see, society rewards masking. We get praised for being composed, productive, and successful. But at what cost?Let’s talk about it…

This episode is titled: Telling or Not Telling: The Complex Truth About HIV Disclosure.

Today’s conversation is close to the heart – because HIV disclosure is not just a moment, it’s a journey. It’s layered with emotions, ethics, safety, and often silence.

In this episode, we will discuss the following subtopics: 1) HIV Disclosure; 2) Why, and When to Disclose;  3) How to Disclose;  4) Choosing to, or Not to Disclose; 5) What Disclosure is NOT; 6) Golden Nugget; and 7) Closure

In this episode, we explore what it means to love – and be loved – beyond the fear that HIV often stirs in the hearts of others. We’ll talk about: How fear distorts intimacy,How stigma can sneak into our own mirrors, And how we reclaim the courage to be seen, known, and chosen.

This is a special month-end episode. This podcast series is titled Health Under Siege. Let’s talk about the pain that doesn’t make headlines, the story behind rising numbers we whisper about, shake our heads at. Knowing alone was never the problem, we have made HIV something to fear instead of something to understand. How did we get here? How did we create a world where HIV infection feels like a moral failure? It is time to stop asking why they didn’t protect themselves and start asking why didn’t we protect them with love, support, and safety nets that actually catch them. Let’s move from what did you do? Too, how can we hold you? This generation deserves a future built on dignity.

About My Podcast

Podcast Description: Unmasked & Thriving is a soulful, unflinching podcast where we speak what others bury and find healing in truth. What Do Others Bury? The shame that still clings to an HIV diagnosis. The grief of being excluded from love, leadership, or liturgy. The exhaustion of performing resilience while fighting for care. The violence of medical gatekeeping and donor-driven agendas. The fear of aging with HIV – and the silence around it. The trauma of living as data, not as people. The loneliness of being undetectable – but unseen. The faith that coexists with doubt, The quiet brilliance of surviving anyway, and the Thriving – by some – nonetheless.
